Re: Review: Star Soldier R

I bought this game recently. First Wiiware title and honestly, One of my first shoot 'em ups. I figured the shortness and replay value here would be a great entry point for myself into the genre and i don't regret that.

Great game, really enjoying it. I'm pretty bad (obviously), in 5 minute mode i've only managed to get 1,203,000~ish if i remember right. Anyway i plan on buying Soldier Blade soon enough.

By Rarehunter_idol

Re: Review: Star Soldier R

@SuperMario
What I've discovered is that when you kill a wave, the next wave appears immedeatly. So, by focusing on killing every baddie the second you see one, you'll have more enemies down by the end of the level. If you intentionally lag, you'll notice you're still fighting dudes at the end of the level that you're used to seeing like half way through. That's how I nailed 998,000 anyways. Before I realized this, I was scoring 950,000 or 940,000 on average.

You're probably already doing this, but maybe you have some other method of racking up those 996,000 points.

By lockelocke

Re: Review: Star Soldier R

There was a tournament? And I missed it?! Why don't they tell you these things?!?! When's the next one?

In any case, I love this game. I've only had it for a short while and I haven't gotten too good, yet I still love it. I miss games like this, short but sweet and meant purely for you to beat that highscore. I'm suprised this hasn't sold well. Sure it only has 2 stages, but they're very well designed stages. Sure it only lasts 5 minutes, I only last 5 minutes in a shooter anyways. Sure you've played a zillion shooters that were far longer - if you've played that many shooters than you certainly know that this is the closest thing you're getting to inivation in this stale genre, at least one that's not from Kenta Cho. Cho's games are free, why don't I just play those? Because you won't get to play those on your Big Screen. Any more questions?

By Mickeymac

I haven't gotten this yet(waited too long), and I've got to exams now, and I just got Profosser Layton, yet I'm still gonna beg and plead for my mother to let me get this(she's got the credit card) so I can enter the tournament.

I'm contemplating on getting this game or waiting for Gyrostarr. I have 1400 Wii points, so getting both is out of the question. I'll wait to see some reviews for Gyrostarr. BTW, this game looks awesome and I think I could easily make the top 10.
Re: Review: Star Soldier R

I think this game is undercredited. I see reviewers complain all over the place that the game is too short and repetitive. It's supposed to be! The game was never ment to be a full length 7 level shooter. It's a high score game. The object is not to complete it, but to get the highest score. If it were a full length game with a story line, it would be put on a disk and sold at $29.99, like Castle Shikigami III.

What we seem to forget is that, these are WiiWare games. We're so used to VC games that with WiiWare, we're expecting full titles. What do you expect from a newly released game thats sold at $5 or $10? That's like going to a video store, buying a direct-to-DVD movie, and expecting a blockbuster film. It doesn't work that way.

By P4RANO1A
