Is this fish a keeper, or should it be thrown back in the water?

The Cocoto “franchise” is a strange one. After cluttering game aisles everywhere with rather generic sounding titles like Kart Racer, Platform Jumper and Tennis Master, the series has come to WiiWare with a bizarre take on virtual fishing. Developed..

ditto on that...fishing games are more exciting than real fishing but...why don't you just play games that happen to have it in them like Zelda or Wii Play?

For those who only want a cheap fishing game this would be a steal.
Also I wouldn't really call Wii Play a proper fishing game (put rod in and drag it out, nothing to put on the hook and no Nun-chuck drawbck action either :| )

So I guess they were play-testing on a PS2? That doesn't give me much hope for the controls being decent...at all.

This is a PS2 game with a horrific sounding plot that was (for some odd reason) ported to WiiWare. The plot is this: Only 5 magical fish know the secret to why the magic whirlpool is filling up with lava. So you must ahem "fish the world" to find these fish. Frightened yet?

307 blocks for a game that is a PS2 port of a rubbish game? Pass, i could get some more Hanabi festival 2 games for 700 points.

Honestly, this game has me curious...... Would still like to see a review before buying, but at only 700 points, may go ahead and snag it sooner.

Seriously, $7? I spend more than that just for lunch each day! But then I'm in the perfect demographic for WiiWare..... More money than sense.

@ thewiirocks: Actually, gameplay footage of the PS2 game doesn't look horrible. I'll wait for the review here, but the odd/stylized graphics look much better in motion that they do in screenshots.

I caved and snagged it..... It's challenging (though I'd tipped back a few pints before playing it) and can be frustrating until you get the hang of it, but honestly..... I like it.

Decent game, I'd give it an 83 on a 100 point scale.

i bought the game and i think 700 points is perfectly reasonable for this game. don't let the cute looks fool you, the game is quite innovative and challenging. it uses the wii motes and nunchuks capabilities quite well. The first time i played this i was lost, then as i gradually learned how to play i began to grow to like it with each fish i caught on this mini fishing adventure. So for fishing enthusiasts i recomend it, and for anyone who likes cute creatures and challenges try it out, worth the points.

I like fishing, but honestly, I have no interest in this game, and the art style creeps me the heck out. I'll just go ahead and say NO to this little game, thank you very much.
