It seems that Hudson is in the early stages of creating a new Adventure Island game. Takahashi Meijin, who you might know as the real-life Master Higgins, said in a recent interview that the game would probably be for WiiWare, and will most likely not use forced motion control, as that would take away from the game's simple gameplay.
As it has been about 14 years since the last real console Adventure Island game this is good news indeed! We wonder if Hudson will copy Capcom and make the game entirely 8-bit?
Hudson has also said they have a yet to be revealed puzzle/action game in development, which might use the Balance Board. We personally think this is Tetris Party, which fits the criteria and has yet to be "officially" announced by Hudson.

New Adventure Island is still one of my all-time favorite PC Engine games. Simple yet unbelievably addictive to play. This is the best news I've heard in a long time.

Im actually quite happy that developers have decided to make wiiware remake / sequals to their long loved games such as Capcoms Megaman series and possibly the Hudsons's Adventure Island series providing they are price at the same Price point as the originals.
I loved the Adventure Island / Wonderboy games and I am soooo looking to any news of this new one.

I love playing those old style NES games and still do, I hope these new ones still have the same feel as the old NES and SNES ones. I much prefer this than the mini game type stuff like beer pong or the stuff that's not good enough for the disc style like the wii ware final fantasy.

Well this is some good news! I hope a lot of developers start making new classic games! As someone else said in the Megaman 9 thread, I'd LOVE to see a new SNES rpg!

wiiware is a perfect platform for retro remakes, there a ton of sidescrollers with timeless gameplay that could be awesome with a shinier coat of paint (and maybe some oldschool highscore leaderboards)

If this is a remake, it BETTER NOT be a 8-BIT game otherwise I won't be happy!

I'm all for these updates/remakes/retro-updates but Adventure Island and/or Wonder Boy (excluding the Monster World games) weren't really fun the first time around so, yeah, how about Devils Crush (better than Alien Crush) and a full-on sequel to Star Soldier instead, Hudson?

This is what WiiWare is for I believe. Old franchises that couldn't make the leap to the next generation system now have the opportunity to be revived on the WiiWare. I personally am against remakes and "retro-style" graphics (a la Mega Man 9). I would like to see old fanchises refitted with current generation graphics and new gameplay mechanics. Imagine thrown-away games like Mach Runner, Balloon Fight, Star Tropics, and Alex Kidd finding a new platform to become profitable franchises in WiiWare. I think it would be awesome.

@x.SuperMario.x- Oooh yeah! Kirby would be awesome. I'd also kinda like in my lifetime to see sequels to some of the "black sheep" games of the Nintendo franchise (like Super Mario 2 and Zelda 2). Wiiware'd be pefect for these oddballs to be re-booted, I think. It probably won't happen, but I can dream. T_T

I hear you, badmouthsadmouth. When Super Mario Advance was previewed for GBA I rejoiced thinking it was a true sequel to SMB2. It ended up being a remake with minor changes, I´d love to see more NES / SNES sequels. The Adventures of Link 2 would be awesome.
