Fans of the TurboGrafx-16 pinball simulation Alien Crush will be happy to know that the official Japanese Alien Crush Returns website for the upcoming WiiWare sequel has gone live. The game has also gotten its official title of Alien Crush Returns as well. We got our hands on some new screenshots as well as the official trailer for the game for everyone to check out.

Just from perusing the web site and watching the trailer, it's safe to say that if the game plays as good as it looks, WiiWare fans are in for a real treat when this game hits the WiiWare service. It looks like all of the classic game play is back, only this time they've included some unique Wii Remote and Nunchuk functions to spice things up a bit. There's even a Story Mode and online leaderboards judging by the video. All of these new features should make the classic game play even more fun and addictive in this exciting sequel.

We'll post any new information on this highly-anticipated WiiWare title as it becomes available. Until then, be sure to check out the new host of screenshots and the video trailer for the game to tide you over.

Alien Crush was the very first game I bought for my TurboGrafx-16 back in the day and I loved it. In fact, I still play it quite regularly to this day. Needless to say, I'll be all over this one when it hits the WiiWare service. :)

I'm still not digging the aesthetic, but it does look pretty cool now that I see it in action, and I'm loving the idea of using the Wii remote to shake the table. I can't wait, especially if it leads to a Devil's Crush remake!

Wow looks so cool! I hope Hudson has a winner here and not another overlooked game like Star Soldier R.

Hm. A new game based on a Turbo Grafx-16 title. I sure hope Hudson limits this game to 5-2 minute sessions too!

Sorry, this looks slightly hotter than the original game. Could be fun.

Looks awesome for those pinball lovers, but I think Metroid Prime Pinball is enough for me.

@Virus

Did Metroid Prime Pinball have waggle. I didn't think so. I'm convinced, even if I do already own MPP.

A pinball game with waggle tilting and online leaderboards? I'm in! Hopefully It'll sell better than SSR. :P Might check out the other Crush games on VC too.

Looks good!

Off topic: When the heck did we start using the term "leaderboards"? This has been bothering me for some time now. Since this game ranks players based on score (I can understanding using the term when it ranks by time) shouldn't we be calling it a high-score table like we used to? I don't no why, but leaderboard just sounds kinda elitist to me.

Alien Crush Returns has a story mode, but Star Soldier R dosen't? They were both made by Hudson. What's up with that?

@Kidpit

Leaderboards rolls off the tongue and is easier to write. Sure it's not politically correct, but we don't need to be here.

This game looks great. I hope for a 1000 pt price but if the story mode and online features deliver 100%, I might even be willing to pony up more. Can't wait!!

Looks very promising from the trailer. I hope this game has a release at North America. It probably will have a release date in North America.

Finally, a WiiWare game that looks like it's had a bit of effort put into it. That'll make 8 in my roster (LostWinds, Tori Tori, FFCC:MLaaK, Star Solider R and the upcoming Gyrostarr, Animales de la Muertes, Bomberman and Alien Crush)

How long I'll have to wait for the other four is anyone's guess but I won't mind seeing as they all look like quality products and not some half-arsed flash puzzle port / 8-bit classic remade with new levels.

MPP has a touch tilt feature so yes it does have "waggle"... sort of.

Avatar

24. Mickeymac United States 12 Jul 2008, 11:10 GMT

Really? I should remember to do that, though I'd imagine it would be pretty awkward having to take out the styles just to shake the table instead of simply shaking the controller in your hand.

A nice twist on pinball that would probably keep me playing.
-I've never played the first one though.

looks good but I really wish they would have remade Devils Crush instead which is superior in every way possible to Alien Crush

Maybe if Alien Crush Returns does well on the WiiWare service Hudson might consider a Devil's Crush Returns as well. I know I'd love to see it happen.

"i never played the original, i might have to check it out!"

It's on the vc service in NA right now. There is a lot of hidden stuff you have to look up a faq to get at.
