Topic: Sleep Vibration Issue

Just bought a used Switch V2. Factory reset it and realized that when putting it into sleep the joycons make a very faint double "heartbeat" vibration exactly 5 seconds after the screen turns off. It's about 1/10th the power of a normal vibration. This happens again immediately after waking it from sleep. These seem to be the only times this random vibration occurs

Is this a normal feature or is something wrong?

I have no games installed yet. The system and the joycons are fully updated. Alarms are off, etc. This still happens even if vibration is turned off. I've tried restarting and factory restoring several times which hasn't helped.

I have done nothing with the Switch except fully reset it. I saw there were people with this issue about three years ago but seems it was a software bug that was fixed.

Just curious what would cause this and if it's something I should worry about. Thanks!

@avig0 If joycons are not attached to the console, I think they make a pulse vibration when they sync to the console. But I'm pretty sure they don't pulse vibrate when you de-sync them or put the switch to sleep. Make sure the Switch OS is up to date in Switch system settings. (I think that's where you check for updates)

@avig0 Oh! Make sure the joycons are updated, too. Pro controllers and joycons sometimes get their own updates. While the joycons are connected to the switch, or plugged into the dock, you can check for updates in the switch's settings for controllers.

Thanks. Yeah, unfortunately as mentioned the controllers and system are both fully updated and I still have this issue.

Anybody have any ideas? I contacted Nintendo and they were no help. It's such a strange issue.

Again, both the switch and the controllers are fully updated. Not sure what else to try

Here's the problem it's a used Switch are you sure there wasn't problems with it before you bought it? I think they can help because it's probably out of warranty and your not the registered owner as all Switch have S/N registration. So take it back or contact whom sold you the Switch to resolve this.

I ended up buying a second used Switch. Also V2. When I got it, neither the system or the controllers had the newest update. The vibration issue here was not present.

Once I updated the system and the controllers, this second switch ALSO has the exact same faint vibration issue mentioned above. So I'm assuming this is with all Switches that have been updated.

Could somebody else with a V2 switch that has recently updated the system and controller software let me know if they feel a very faint vibration about 5 seconds after putting the Switch to sleep? Thanks
