What goes down must come back up in this gut-wrenching ‘sport’.

People have been competitively stuffing their gullets with exorbitant amounts of various foods for over a hundred years, but not until the release of Major League Eating: The Game on WiiWare has this activity been immortalised in a videogame. Now, before..

Somehow Cooking Mama springs to mind. Without the cooking

So just Mama springs to mind then?

It's kind of the other way around with Cooking Mama, instead of cooking food...you try to scarf it down as fast as you can! Honestly doesn't sound too fun...but then again neither did cooking and that was fun in the end.

I can't wait to see a review on this because frankly I don't want to myself!

Yes, Serpent, sadly this is meant for the Americans seeing that we like to indulge ourselves excessively instead of investing the extra, wasted food to those that really need it. These competitions make me sick to my stomach.

If it is cheap I might buy this game, it looks kinda gross, but it might be a good game, Wario Ware is gross(so us Wario) but look at its ratings! So this could be a good game too!

this game is for after you work up an appetite playing Wii Fit.

I thought this when I first heard about it way back and it bears repeating: What a useless title. Talk about playing on stereotypes. But yeah, the overall concept of the game is lacking at best.

It actually made me quesy when the chick threw up in the video. Granted its cartoonish, but still. Nothing makes me sick. I watch movies where people asplode and lose heads...but throwing up is gross. They should go off camera.

I woudn't be surprised if this game gets a bad review.

I have a bad feeling this is going to be priced somewhere around 800-1000 Points. Judging by the concept, i will probably give this game a miss

Hey, cheer up guys.
Maybe its not all bad... It might be a North American exclusive! :-P

While all I have to do is look around my school or my local gym to see where they are getting at with this game, and having actually seen an eating competition, I can say that they are quite exciting. Unfortunately, after seeing the video, this actually seems like a poor excuse for a game based on eating, and actually maked me lose my appetite.

I still maintain it'll do well. A glorified pie-eating contest with no bloating, no calories, no indigestion. It could do phenomenally well, it's got online play, even. What will make or break it is the price. I don't see a game with online play coming in under 1000 Wii Points, though... But it really needs to.

Yah, this is probably going to do good. In fact, I was excited for this game, until I actually saw the game. I hope everybody watches the Nintendo Channal video before they consider buying it(that's what it's there for folks), because it's probably gonna make or break(most likely break) their decision.

Dear G-D in heaven, I don't know if I've been more insulted in my life! This game plays on every stereotype known to Man! Not to mention how disgusting the video is! And I thought Beer Pong was a bad idea...

This isn't a game, it's just elementary burp and puke jokes.

Ah, poor Mastiff. Nathan's Hot Dog Contest was one for the books this year. Joey Chestnut against Kobayashi... Tied at 59 dogs each, had to go to a 5-dog tie breaker... All over every newscast, too. Just like every year. Was the game available to capitalize on all this wondrous free publicity? Translate it into massive sales? Nope. Reggie decided it wasn't time to release it yet. :P

And with that, all thoughts of quality control went out the window. Seriously, is anyone at Nintendo even looking at this stuff? Or are they just slapping a label on everything and throwing it up for download no matter how cack it is?

Avatar

22. calc_nerd United States 14 Jul 2008, 15:59 GMT

Gross enough just watching the hot dog contest on tv, let alone play the video game. WASTE OF MONEY!!

Avatar

23. Peznaze United States 14 Jul 2008, 21:09 GMT

@Outrunner
With what? The game crashes Wiis? Controls are unresponsive? Graphics glitchy? What about the quality of the game is uncontrolled? Or are you just complaining about the genre, the venue?

24. Mazero United States 14 Jul 2008, 23:48 GMT

I've actually asked WiiRevolution1 about if the game is crap and he says it's pretty decent. Probably better than Pokemon Ranch or Spogs Racing

Avatar

25. Omega Germany 15 Jul 2008, 12:56 GMT

Although the quality of the game (in terms of gameplay, graphics, controls etc.) may not be bad, it is simply the concept of food waste that some might not like. And somehow, I think it is nasty. But this is only my opinion. It is all apparently a matter of "taste". I have heard that there are millions of fans who watch MLE on TV. So it can not be wrong. Or can it?

26. poggydude United States 15 Jul 2008, 21:49 GMT

@mezero

calling a game decent because it is better than mpc or spogs is like saying month old ham is better than dog poo
(now I don't know if the game is good or not but just because a game isn't bottom of he barrel doesn't make it decent)

It's coming to Japan with new characters etc... so... does that hint that MLE: The Game will eventually come to PAL regions? If they are releasing it here, then new characters and customisations would explain the delays :)

I may be too optimistic about this. * Change of tone *

Argh!!! The agony! I now I'll never fulfill my life-long dream of stuffing my face with 16.4kg of crap! * cry * :'(
